Part-Time Position Available: Marketing Director
Kingston Gallery is in search of a new Marketing Director. This is a part-time job that amounts to 40 hours a month.
We are looking for an individual with marketing experience to lead the outreach efforts of the gallery and its members. This includes increasing the reputation and visibility of the exhibitions of gallery members, writing and publishing press releases, keeping curator and general contact lists up to date, and closely working with our marketing committee to expand the social media of the gallery and its artists. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of contemporary art practice and be familiar with the Boston art community to contextualize the work on exhibition.
The hourly rate to start is $30 per hour. Approximately, ten hours per week amounting to 40 hours a month is required.
Responsibilities include:
Writing and publishing monthly press releases.
Coordinating marketing with the exhibiting artists, the gallery Marketing Committee, and the gallery Directors.
Familiarity with Mailchimp to create, edit, and disseminate newsletters, press releases, and other mailings to our mail lists.
Management of gallery social media, which includes crafting posts, and cultivating new followers.
Create graphics to use on our social media pages using mostly Canva or Adobe Photoshop.
Gather Social Media content including videos.
Collaborate with each exhibiting artist to coordinate outreach efforts to press, curators, and other special contacts.
Lead events during exhibitions in coordination with the exhibiting artist.
Respond to emails or social media messages concerning the gallery or the current/upcoming exhibitions.
Liaise with gallery members as needed.
Desired proficiencies include:
At least one year of marketing experience, marketing in fine arts/ design/ creative economy preferred
A solid understanding of Boston/ New England arts community and/or contemporary arts practices
Knowledge of Mailchimp or similar email marketing service
1-3 years of social media (Instagram, Facebook) management
Proficient in Google Applications
Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop or similar programs like Canva
Relationship building within the gallery and the wider arts community
Written communication
Kingston gallery is an artist-run gallery incorporated in 1982. Gallery artists specialize in a diverse range of media. Our exhibits regularly receive attention in both print and online publications.
