Rebecca Anne Nagle: Embodiment of Nature

March 1-April 2, 2023

Opening Reception March 3, 5:00 - 8:00 pm

About

The work speaks to the spiritual and metaphysical within nature; its forces speak loudly through the power of a river current, the stillness of ice, the beauty of a sunrise or the harsh terrain of the desert. A symbiotic relationship forms between humanity and the energy nature provides. In a time of soul searching and doubt, nature becomes a place for healing and awareness.

Biography

Rebecca Anne Nagle, a painter and mixed media artist from Cape Ann, explores layering and transparency with society and nature.  Searching for the rhythms, lyricism, and repetitions in the visual or metaphysical that produce movement and emotional impact.

As a professional figure skater, Rebecca enjoyed the graceful physical process of creating visible rhythmic patterns on huge ice canvasses.  Today, that physicality energizes the edgy, abstract mark making found in much of her work. Using pastels, acrylics, oil and a wide variety of collage materials, she seeks to forge a bond between the integrity of the subject matter and the empathy of the viewer.
