Artist Page

These two large-scale drawings are created with ink, charcoal, collage, and gesso on Tyvek and paper. Working on these large surfaces allows me to start with exuberant, intense mark-making. Over time, I resolve the drawings into finished, intentional works that still retain much of the original energy. I'm particularly interested in complexity, and how areas of density contrast with areas of open space.

The drawings describe interior spaces, where objects shift and collide. Forms float in space, they sink, or they tilt precariously in the disorienting environment. Despite a frantic, invisible energy that permeates each room, an overall stability seems to hold everything in place.
