Laurel McMechan

Laurel McMechan creates invented landscapes in painting and printmaking to explore the idea of place, using collage as metaphor for the overlap of virtual and visceral parts of daily life. Living and working in Boston, she holds a BFA from the University of Denver and an MFA from Massachusetts College of Art + Design. Her paintings and prints were recently on exhibit in Massachusetts and New York, including a one-person exhibition in Lowell. McMechan's work resides in private and public collections, including the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Rhode Island School of Design and University of Richmond Museums. She currently teaches in the Studio Foundation department at Massachusetts College of Art + Design and the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
